Gothic arch challenge - transitions

My 1st arch is a fact as well.... Well the theme on gothic arches was not that easy. Transitions.... I wanted to come up with something original, so 1st I took some time to think. Then I tried several things, and redid things over and over again.... well... I'm still not 100% satisfied, but after a whole evening of trying I will publish my result. The picture of the frog that you see in my work was taken by me.

Oh, by the way.... I was very happy this morning to see that on the TMTA site they published my triptychon.

Mijn eerste boog is ook een feit. Vandaag doe ik mee met de challenge van gothic arches Ik kreeg het patroon van de verschillende bogen van Myriame en zo kon ik aan de slag gaan. Het thema was echt wel niet makkelijk voor deze week. Je moest iets maken met een overgang, vb van kind naar volwassen, etc.... Ik wou met iets origineels voor de dag komen, en heb voor het thema kikker gekozen. Toen moest ik aan de slag en geloof me, het is me eigenlijk een avondje sukkelen geweest, verschillende keren herbegonnen en zo.... en ik ben eigenlijk nog niet 100% tevreden, maar soit, we gaan het hierbij laten. De kikker die je op mijn werkstukje ziet heb ik trouwens zelf gefotografeerd. Zo zie je dat ik verschillende hobby's ineen kan combineren.

O ja, en als je nog eens een kijkje neemt op de TMTA-site dan zul je daar mijn drieluikje zien. Was blij toen ik zag dat ze het op hun site hadden staan!

Theme thursday - Paris

Today I'm really in the mood for stamping as you can notice. I did make a card for antoher challenge. On theme thursday the theme is Paris, I added one that I made once a while ago.

Zin in uitdagingen.... nog eentje voor vandaag, bij theme thursday gaat het over Parijs. Een dankbaar thema waar je veel mee kunt doen. De eerste heb ik juist gemaakt, de andere had ik nog liggen van een tijd geleden.

TMTA - triptychon

The challenge on TMTA this week is about making a triptych. This is a theefold. This was a real challenge for me since I never had done something similar before. So here I actually made my 1st connected ATC, wondering how you like it.

my weekend

I had a busy weekend. Saturday-evening we went to Aqualibi in Brussels. It's a tropical swimmingpool with some cool waterslides. After having plenty of fun in the water Rien and Huguette all spoiled us with a meal at "Quick".













Sunday I went again to Brussels area. Zorica had her birthday and I did spend that special day with her. We ate, went to the movies and I did show her the big market place and "Manneke pis" our most popular statue. She can't leave Belgium and not have seen our most famous statue I thought....

Druk weekend gehad... Zaterdagavond gaan zwemmen naar Océade en nadien lekker in de Quick gaan eten. Rien en Huguette hebben ons daar verwend, waarvoor dank ;).

Zondag met Zorica naar Brussel geweest. Het was haar verjaardag en we zijn gaan eten, filmpke gaan zien ed. We zijn ook nog even langs de Grote Markt en bij "Manneke Pis" geweest.

Make a moo or two...

I'm really in a challenge mood lately, so I decided to join the make a moo or two challenge. Moo's are little cards with the size of approximatly 1,1 inch / 2,8 inch, so they are pretty little. This was the first one I tried out... You could participate with one or more,... I only had time to make one.

Ik heb de smaak van challenges te pakken... mijn eerste "mootje" gemaakt. Op de site van make a moo or two kon je deze week meedoen met een challenge over reizen. Je moest een moo maken. Een moo is een kaartje van 2,8 op 7cm, dus echt wel piepklein om mee te werken. Je kon deelnemen met 1 of meerdere bijdrages, wegens tijdsgebrek moest ik het bij eentje houden.

I never participated yet with a challenge online for stamping. But today I will give it a try. On the site of crazy amigo's challenge, this week's theme was the fabulous 4 refering to the Beatles, but you also could make something with the number 4, which I did.

Ik heb nog nooit meegedaan met een stempelchallenge, maar het moet een keer de eerste keer zijn. Op de site van de crazy amigo's is er deze week een uitdaging. Of je maakt iets over de Beatles, of je maakt iets met het cijfer 4. Ik koos voor het laatste.

Art journal and some humor

In the new "Scrap!" I read an article about making your own art journal.... it touched me right away, didn't think twice over it. I looked on youtube for some ideas, and I started working on my 1st page. I was inspired by valentine, because that's what everything is about right now.

















First page I made for in my art journal. I had fun messing around hahaha;)

I want to share some funny situations from what happened on my job as well.

We did some memory exercises with our elderies, and they needed to describe all things that had to do with our nursinghome. One eldery mentioned a gynaecologist.... I looked to him a little bit strange... and then he said, well you know... those people that give us exercises for arms and legs.... he ment the physiotherapists of course.

My collegue was working with another group, one question was, where can you find the statue of liberty... since no one answered right away, she tried to help: that man with prickles near the water...
Voor de Nederlandstaligen nog even vertalen, klinkt toch leuker in 't Vlaams ;) die laatste.
Mijn collega was geheugentraining aan 't geven en bij een van de oefeningen moesten onze bejaarden antwoorden op de vraag waar het vrijheidsbeeld zich bevond. Niemand gaf direct antwoord en toen hielp zij een beetje: die man met stekkers bij het water..... en voor degene die nog zouden twijfelen, het vrijheidsbeeld is dus wel een vrouw he!

De laaste zal ik er ook maar bijtypen want die kan ik ook niet zo direct in het Engels vertellen. Eén van onze liften op 't werk werkte niet: er plakte een blad op: "buiten gebruiken" ipv buiten gebruik. ;)

birthdaycards I made

This one I gave to Timothy.

Timothy got 2 years old...

There was a birthdayparty planned for little Timothy, I even took free from my job, but his mama was sick, and he didn't feel super well either... so he ended up with mama, sister and brother at our place. We did eat pancakes and he did receive presents. Jonas and Elina were happy to craft and play with auntie...oh well.... later that week... guess who got sick? Yeps auntie Veerle indeed ;)

Ja en nu.... het grote werk kan beginnen.... en zeggen dat ik 3 middelste namen heb, ik ga het dus maar bij mijn eerste middelste naam houden: Jacqueline, met die naam op zich ben ik al een eindje zoet.
And now.... I have 3 middle names, what about that? Guess I'll take my 1st middle name which is: Jacqueline.

J = de J staat voor Jezus, mijn grote voorbeeld in mijn leven. Ik ben geboren in een christelijk gezin en zou mijn leven niet kunnen voorstellen zonder mijn geloof.
J stands for Jesus, my big example in life. I’m born into a christian family and I couldn’t imagine my life without my faith in God.

A = Amerika, ik ben er al 7x geweest en ik hou van de natuur alginds, je kunt er echt mooie plaatsjes ontdekken.
A stands for America, I’ve been there already 7 times, love the nature there, you really can see nice places over there.

C = hmm… leek me eerst een moeilijke letter maar hoe meer ik erover denk hoe meer ik dingen vind met een C die ik kan beschrijven…. dus hier gaan we…
de C voor creatief. Ik ben mijn hele leven al creatief geweest. Ik heb vooral een passie voor alles wat iet of wat met papier te doen heeft… scrappen, ATC’s maken, stempelen, etc…
Eigenlijk kan ik de C ook gebruiken voor “chic-o-sticks”, een Amerikaans lekkernijtje die ik af en toe opgestuurd kreeg van mensen in Amerika en eentje dat ik ter plekke ook altijd proef… (jammer genoeg hebben ze ze wel niet overal)… maar in chic-o-sticks zit er cocos (voor de gelegenheid schrijf ik dat nu ook maar eens met een c ;) ) en ik ben gek op producten waar er cocos in verwerkt zit… kocht overlaatst zelfs een deo met cocosgeur.
C … looked a difficult letter at 1st but looks like I can come up with several things I like that starts with a c. First of all the C for creative. I have been creative since I was a child. I love to work with paper somehow… love scrapbooking, making ATC’s, stamping, etc…
Another one I could use the C for is the chic-o-sticks, the candy I only can buy in the states, and then there you have to look for it at times, I do love chic-o-sticks very much and I have been sended some while I was home (thx Trudy and Matt). I guess I love them because they have coconut in them… and yeps coconut starts with a c as well. I love coconut in candy… I even bought me a deodorant with coconutsmell.

Q = de Q van Quotes, ik hou van toffe spreuken e.d. heb verschillende boeken met leuke quotes in.
Quotes, I'm crazy about them. Love to read nice quotes, I have several books plenty with those.

U = de u van uren…. Het lijkt alsof ik er altijd te kort heb op een dag. Ik wil altijd zoveel doen dat ik nauwelijks op tijd in mijn bed geraak… Ik plan om te gaan slapen om 11.30, maar meestal is het toch later…
U stands for “uren” which is translated as hours… It looks like I always have to less hours in a day… I always want to do so much things, especially in the evenings, that I almost never get into my bed at 11.30, the time I plan to go asleep.

E = De E van ergotherapeute. Ja, ik werk al iet meer dan 10 jaar als ergo in een woon- en zorgcentrum.
E stands for “ergotherapeute” which is translated as occupational therapist in English. I work as an O.T. in a nursinghome for over 10 years now.

L = De L van limonade. Ik drink nogal graag limonade… vooral de kleurloze… mijn favorieten zijn: 7up, sprite and Sierra Mist (die laatste is enkel verkrijgbaar in USA).
L stands for “lemonade”, wich you guys call: sodas overseas. I like them pretty much. My favorite brands are: 7-up, sprite and Sierra Mist.

I = Impulsieve koopster. Ik koop nogal impulsief, vooral dan als het om knutseldingetjes gaat.
I stands for impulsive buyer. I’m one at times, especially what concerns craftgoodies.

N = nostalgie. Ik hou ervan om gezellig met ma en pa te kletsen over dingen van vroeger. Ik kan me ook nog heel goed dingen herinneren van toen ik nog heel klein was, tot de gekste details zoals de kleur van een koekendoos bij een nonkel van mijn ma die ik amper 1 keer zag, etc….
N stands for nostalgia. I love to talk with my parents about things that happened in the past. I have a lot of memories from when I was pretty little. I know the craziest details a times… like the colour of a box of cookies the uncle of my mum had, I only saw the man once…

E = Ik zou bijna zeggen de e van Eindelijk… bijna gedaan… lol….. Nee, de laatste E ga ik gebruiken voor emoties. Ik ben nogal iemand die vrij emotioneel is. Als ik een treffend boek lees of een pakkende film bekijk dan durf ik grif toegeven dat ik af en toe een traan laat.
E stands for Emotions. I’m a pretty emotional person. So it happens at times that I cry when I read a book or see a movie.
Finaly... done done.....

happy birthday to you....

Here is little Eliana on her birthday. It was a nice party, with yummy pie, lots of presents and of course all family and friends.

Eliana...almost one year!

Can you believe it? Tomorrow she will be getting one year! I took free in the afternoon so that I will be able to join her birthdayparty. Tonight I made her a special card. I also bought some gifts for her. The picture you see is taken last saturday, and yeps, her dady is intoducing her into lego: she's playing with her 1st duplo's!

Normaly I don't join swaps for cards, but this time I did. The 1st three ones you see, are ones that I have made, the rest is what I got back from others.

Showing Brugge to Zorica

Sunday I went to Brugge with Zorica. I showed her around in the city, and yeps.... I even went up all the way in to the bellery (you have to know that I have a fear for hights). We had a nice time. Our final destination was the choc bar. It's a kinda tearoom where you have all specialities with chocolate. I need to show where Belgium stands for ;) I had a yummy hot chocolate with cinnaman, Zorica tasted one with mint. David, Zorica's boyfriend will come to Belgium this week and I probably will meet her soon again, and some time later, her brother Peter will visit as well.

Happy New Year

I want to wish everyone a very blessed 2008! I celebrated new years eve with my friends: Griet, Ben and Nadine. We went to a restaurant in Kortrijk and we really had a good time.

As usual with the new year people make newyearsresolutions. Well, not everyone makes them, but I did. Curious? Hmmmm... I would be curious to hear yours as well ;).

Let me share some... I want to work on my spiritual life, it also would be neat to loose a few kilo's. And I'll do my very best this year to be more organised. What concerns the creative side of me... I'll try to make one picture every day, and make a project with that. And now guys, come up with your resolutions... cause I want to hear them as well.

May God be with you and guide you through 2008!

Zorica and me in Antwerp

One day I met a guy online, Peter. He told me that he has a sister that works as an au pair in Belgium. After chatting for some time with him, one day I got a letter from his sister. And it didn't happen long after that that we planned to meet. Sunday 16 december I went to Antwerp. It was supernice to meet Zorica, she's a funny and nice girl and we defenatly will meet again. I love her sense of humor so much... looks like it's in the family there, cause Peter does have it as well.

There was a lot to see in Antwerp. The shops were open, and that was nice too, I spend some money in a craft shop (as usual ;) ). We also enjoyed the little x-masmarket.

busy days....

December is a busy month. I want to make all my own x-mascards, and it seems like I have to make more cards every year. Then my sundays were pretty busy as well.

On Sunday 9th december I met Isabelle and her friend, I hadn't seen her for like quite 2 years. It was nice to see her again. We went to Gent, the city where I studied for occupational therapist. After eating fondue in a good restaurant we went in a nice and cozy tea-room, it sure was a nice day!
