a little bit of everything

Today was my 1st workday. Since I was sick yesterday, I didn't go working. It was a pretty busy day. I didn't get home till after 9 p.m., well this was because we had our yearly carnaval programm. Two known Belgians came to sing songs for our elderies. They sure had some fun. Thing is when I get home late, I can't make it early to my bed, it's like I don't have an evening otherwise, sure will regret this tomorrow morning, as usual.

I got a nice package in the mail. 3 sets with stamps (40 in total). I just love stamps lately. I had bought me one sunday at the hobbyfair as well, hmmmm one... one big one I mean... I bought 4 packages with mix and match stamps and one set of flower stamps that you can use with an acrylic block. That makes 36 new ones total that I got on sunday. (all are pretty little, so don't think that I have a whole mountain of new stamps).

Well, guess that I will know what to do when I come home tomorrow... actually, I tried already some out, could't resist...

Stories and sayings

I like to read storries that happened for real. I love to read Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I once got me 15 of those books in one time. The neat thing about is, is that you always have a nice story that you can read in a couple of minutes.

Sayings are also things I like. I just started a book with some neat ones it. Well, actually it's not something I read constantly, but once in a while.

Let me share some thoughts: What is the use of running when we are on the wrong road (Bavarian proverb)

Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle. (Lewis Carroll)

Timothy is one year today.

Today Timothy had his birthday. We did celebrate it this past week-end. He's a cute litlle boy taking his first steps. We had to be aware of the candle, Timothy doens't realise yet the purpose of a candle, he wanted to grab it.

God bless

Welcome sweet little one... Eliana

What a day! My thoughts were this morning already with my friends Rien and Huguette because I knew the baby would arrive today. I had my cellphone with me all the time, because Rien had promised to call me and I sure was anxious to get that call. It was also my collegue her birthday, so we started the day pretty happy. The 1st eldery I had to wash was pretty happy too, in his mind he was doing his confirmation, and oh boy, what was he beaming with pride... just like a kid would do on such a day. At 09:29:57 Am the phone rang. Rien was telling me he had a nice little girl. 45cm and 2kg 890gr. I was the 1st one he called after the grandparents, and I must admit I felt pretty honoured. In the afternoon we went to the local mall. Shoping is always fun. As usual we started with a drink and cake. Then we did some shopping with the elderies. In the evening we still had a present for a couple that had had their anniversary. Sofie my collegue had worked on the picture-album we gave. It was an album with all pics from when they were little until now. The man got emotional, and I must tell, I had to try hard not to let my tears roll. But it felt good. Good to see that he was happy! So tuesday, janury 30 will be remebered as one of those days you want to treasure.

watching a dvd, reading a book....

This Dvd I got from Rien for my New Year. It's one I like very much. You won't believe it, but I'm pretty crazy about it, I did watch it 3 times in about one month time... and that's not me normally. Don'tworry, it will take a while now before I look to it again. I don't wanne get borred by it due to watching it over and over again in a too short period of time.

I did read the book: "onwaarschijnlijke engel". It's the Dutch version of "unlikely angel". A very nice story. If you wanne know what's the book is about: click the following link: http://covbookstore.stores.yahoo.net/ianbyassm.html

It's one of those books you want to read out in one breath. Sure one that I recommend!

Daughter of China

I just finished this book. It's a Dutch one: "dochter van China". Translated it means: daughter from China. It's about a chinese girl that had to undergo persecutions due to her christian faith. It's a very touching story, I enjoyed reading it.

Fun at the beach

What's there to do on a lazy sunday afternoon? Well, when the weather is not bad, it's always a good thing to go to the beach. That's what our little group decided to do. Since Griet is still here, it was nice to be with us 5 again. It was pretty windy, so, we took some shots with the camera and then rushed into a tea-room. And how does a hot chocolate with whipped cream and a Belgian waffle sound to you? To my stomach it sounded excellent!

Ladies and Gentlemen... I present to you... Isolde

We met each other online. I'm member of a Belgian scrapgroup, and she got member not that long after I was there. Since she lives not that far away we decided to meet. Now we go to crops together once in a while at Tiny's, our closest scrapbookshop. Isolde got the cool idea of taking her camera with her the last time. Here you see the picture of us... not scrapped yet. We will both scrap it, the result will be paged when this mission is fulfilled.

sales

Well, the beginning of January means always: SALES. The coolest stuff that I bought this week was new scrapstuff. I got a discount of 70% on several items, and that's a real nice thing. Today I went shopping for new shoes, and I also got me pants and a skirt.

Since I gained some weight lately, I'm trying to loose some, therefore I want to do some more exercise. I went swimming today, for the 1st time since a while and I started with 50 laps, not bad I think.

Well, it has been quite a busy week. Yesterday Rien, Huguette, Jeffrey, Griet and I went eating out... yeah, I know, most people won't do that in the middle of the week, but we did. It was quite a time ago since we had gonne to our traditional restaurant: Tafel 14 (called: the Gondel in the earlier days). It was a real cool evening. I enjoyed it to be together with us 5 again. The next time we go, we might have a baby or a toddler with us....

I want to wish everyone a very happy new year. I hope 2007 will bring a lot of joy to everyone. I already have some neat things to look foreward too. Rien and Huguette, very good friends of me will soon become dad and mum. For the last day of 2006 I took a photoshoot of the big belly of Huguette. Still one month to go....

Let's roll

This week I finished my book: Let's roll. It's a true story. It tells the story about Todd Beamer. He was a guy that lost his life on flight 93, on 9/11. A very touching story. I got it from my sister for my birthday, and did finish it now. Next books to end: My escape from the auto de fé. from WM. Timms (bougt this one in the USA) and Dochter van China from C. Hope Flinchbaugh, one that I got to read from Debora.

x-mascards

Today, I had fun making x-mascards. I'm not satisfied with all of them, but some look pretty nice I think. Well, have fun and take a look. Here is the link where you can find them all. I will post the one I like the best here... http://skynetphotoservice.wistiti.be/skynet/be_NL/asp/album/album-photo-Galerie.asp?Pseudo=Skynet-395747&album=Skynet-395747WMJXa

I love vintagepictures. Lately I try to make some creations with those pictures. And since doodling is really in... I'm putting my 1st steps in it as well.

This rolodexcard was swapped with a lady from the Netherlands. I love to use bears ... I'm crazy about them. I stamped the bear, masked it, then inked the background. and then I used the hearts-stars stamp. Finally I coloured the bear with my aquarelpencils.

ATC and Rolodex

Besides scrapbooking I love to make ATC (artist trading cards) I actually just started this new hobby. Well, I always loved stamps, and I usually use stamps to make my ATC's. I just participated for a swap with the theme autumn.

I also make rolodexcards for swaps. And here as well... ink and stamps are my favorit things, especially the distress inks from Tim Holtz.

distressing

As most of you know, I really love scrapbooking. Yesterday I went to a course about distressing. Distressing is making you paper and pictures look old... kinda like creating old lookalike albums. It was really nice, I learned some cool things. And of course I wanted to practise today. I made a birthdaycard.

Above all...

I was touched by a song today. It reminded me of my time in the USA when I saw the play they did about the last days of Jesus life. This song was played there too, and I wanne put it here with a picture I took on the same trip.

Above all powers, above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth
Crucified
Laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all

Andorra

This summer I went to Andorra. It's a little state located between France and Spain. We mainly did mountainwalks. We really had a lot of fun, and we were with quite a bit... 22 people in total. I shared my room with Jeffrey, Rien and Huguette. After Andorra we went still visting "the family Volckaert". They are Belgians that moved to France. After 2 days France, we had to go back to Belgium... unfortunatly... Vacation just is way too short.

books books books

An update on some books I read recently:

Soulsurfer

Bethany Hamilton

Nice story, I like to read biography's. This one is from Bethany Hamilton. She was attacked by a shark and lost her arm due to this. She also had a personal website: http://www.bethanyhamilton.com/

Miracle from the streets

Cheri Peters

A very touching story. It's really unbelievable what Cheri all went through. It's pretty shoking too, this book really touches you. Once you start reading, you sure wanne finish the book. I actually did read both books in one breath.

last picture of my trip to the USA

Well, the most beautiful ones you will only see in my scrapbook! A good reason to visit me.

And this is a picture of one of the Falls in the smoky's. Meigs Falls. And Plufke is crazy about Falls, we saw 4 Falls in the Smoky's.

Back in Belgium

Hello everyone,

I'm back in Belgium. Yeah, I know I have been neglecting my blog a bit. I guess I bought too much scrapbook stuff. Since I've come home, I sure have enjoyed scapbooking.
I mainly worked on some little books for others, and of course I did continue to work on my trip to the USA in 2004.
I sure can tell alot about this trip. I will put some pictures on this site. Some things that come to mind immediately when I think back on this trip are the nice times I had with Trudy. I sure enjoyed throwing some icy water on her... (lol).
Victoria, Trudy's niece, invited me to her school which was cool, too. She had to do a report on Belgium. The student's had the opportunity to ask a real Belgium questions...which I enjoyed very much. Another thing which was very nice was the "bearhunting" we did at the smoky's, and with success, we did see a bear in the wild, didn't try to give it a hug though.
There are still a lot of stories I can tell, and I might tell more later on... but that's it for now....

relaxing in the States

Hello everyone,

I have been gone for a bit here, but now I am back. I am spending a vacation in the USA. I am just back from Florida. Did spend a little week over there. We had a lot of fun at Daytona Beach. We also visited the Holy Land Experience Park in Orlando, which was also neat. On sabbath before easter I went to Collegedale and got to see a wonderfull pageant. It was called Sonrise, over 100 actors helped to perform. It was about Jesus last days, his death and the resurrection. It really looked professional done, I liked it very much. Now I am in back in Tennessee, and tomorrow we will leave for Chatanooga.
I had already the chance to visit an ABC-store, and bought some neat things.
I sure do like the scrapbookstuff they have over here too... so so cool. It looks like I'll come back packed like a donkey. (Troodel already has fun with this idea, she's sitting next to me imitating a donkey.) Well I sure do like vacation days, don't miss my job a single second. Greetings from Veerle alias Plufke.
